The second annual Dingle Food & Wine Festival will take place on the 3rd-5th of October, 2008, in and around Dingle, Co. Kerry. The festival will include series of cookery demonstrations, special menus in restaurants, a food market, a cheese and wine exposition, wine seminars, and culinary trails. It will also include the first annual Blas na hÉireann National Irish Food awards. (More on that here). Cookery demonstrations: A mobile kitchen will be set up in St. James Church and a variety of both local and national chefs demonstrated how to prepare various dishes. Special Menus: Restaurants will create varied tasting menus on the Friday and Saturday nights of the festival, featuring local produce. Food Market: A food and wine market will operate throughout town. Cheese and Wine: There will be tutored wine tastings and seminars. Culinary Food Trails: Shops twinned with artisan producers will highlight both food and some of the interesting retail offerings in Dingle. Oyster tasting in a gallery, scallops and cider in a pub, and a wine tasting in a crystal shop were just a few of the pairings last year. This year, there will be many more exciting pairings! Foraging Walk: How to forage wild foods and survive from the coast. Charity: Last year, the festival raised close to €2,000 for Hope Guatemala. |
